PCT Day 14: Pine Springs Ranch Mile 151.8 to tent site 155.9 (June 1) Side trip to Idyllwild with Janet and Barbara

We had breakfast at PSR – so good again. Carmen had my clothes washed!! So kind. It was nice to be fully clean again. I got organized, packed up and it was time to go.

Saying goodbye to Carmen! Thank you all at Pine Springs Ranch.

First stop in Idyllwild was the outfitter – I really needed sun gloves. My hands were still messed up from the first day. Then we went to the grocery store for a small resupply. You know what Janet did? She heard me mention how I needed small bills so she bought a pack of gum just for the change – and gave me the gum too. So kind.

We had lunch at the Red Kettle then did a little shopping for something for my brother-in-law Stanley for Father’s Day – Janet mailed it for me (she takes her Trail Angel duties VERY seriously). Before we left (thank the Lord) I remembered that I needed a light mid layer pant. They had exactly what I was looking for – a really breathable, light pair by Rab. I had brought a pair of long tights with me but after one use I cursed them to die and threw them out.

    Meeting Idyllwild’s mayor Max.

They took me back to trail. I wanted to get at least a few miles in. They walked with me a ways and then we said our goodbyes.

I got in about 4 miles and then called it a day.

Big pinecone with my new sun gloves.
    My tent site that night.
