PCT Day 6: Oriflamme Canyon to approx. Mile 71 (May 24) first Sabbath on trail

I woke the next morning with a huge smile on my face. God is so good. Never in 1 million years did I ever think that I would be sleeping with just my sleeping bag on an exposed hill with vicious winds. But I made it through. Justin felt better and pushed on ahead of me.

My goal as always was water. I Met Dave and Dana and Dave’s son at Sunrise Trailhead. Got water and had breakfast. Also met a few other hikers there. It was nice just to connect.

It was a horrible, horrible, horrible, hot, hot, hot hike until water at Rodriquez Spur. I ate a special Sabbath lunch there that I had gotten from the local camping store in Chattanooga. I waited out the heat.

I then went on a few more miles to find a tent spot in anticipation for getting into Julian the next day.

Still covered up from the vicious winds.
Sunrise Trailhead. My spot out of the wind.
Great pic of Dana (L) and Dave (R). They give me encouragement to this day.
    Hot.
