I got started way later than I wanted or expected to. Hot and miserable again but interesting terrain.

It took me all day but I finally made it to DeBenedetti’s. The guide said an easy 15 minute walk from trail – ha. It was a miserable 30 minute walk. Similar to Mike’s Place – but a bit more conventional. They have a potty in an old trailer and a place to charge electronics. Also a tarp covered area with camping chairs to shield from the sun. There were several hikers there. We all sat under the tarp and cooled off. The host offered soda. It really felt good. Hikers then took turns going through their packs and showing each item. It was pretty cool to see what others were carrying and why.

I set up my tent and then went back to the tarp area to eat supper. I made my ramen and had a few bites but I just couldn’t eat. I threw it out.
I was in contact with Carmen – the director of Pine Springs Ranch, a Seventh-Day Adventist youth camp asking if I could take refuge there for the Sabbath. She said she was expecting me and would be happy to pick me up. She said that lunch would be at 1pm in case that gave me any motivation. Oh yes that gave me a ton of motivation! I went to bed because I knew morning would come very early the next day.
