I was down that day for some reason and it reflected in my hiking. I had covered only 2 miles by 9am. I got in just over 10 miles for the day. It was beautiful but the terrain was evolving and it was hot. The only truly bright spot was being able to wish my sister Roberta a happy birthday via video message. I think part of my attitude was knowing how close I was to Pine Springs Ranch and not being able to rest there as I did that Saturday.
Here are some images from that day. I have some of myself smiling – but they don’t reflect the reality of that day. In summary the day was a beautiful slog. Toward the end of the day I had a ray of hope when I saw the words, “KEEP GOING” scrawled on a log.
